Quantock Interiors Blog Get creative with your suspended ceiling Suspended ceilings, or ceiling grids, are commonly found in smart office, retail and industrial settings. No longer are they just for polystyrene ceiling tiles. They can be a really versatile component, giving your space a unique look and style. Here are some different ways to use suspended ceilings to give your building an edge. Standard suspended ceilings usually rely on square white blocks, arranged in a grid. They’re popular in offices, where a smart or minimalist look is required. There’s no reason to limit yourself though. Because the tiles are usually made from plasterboard, they’re really adaptable when it comes to shaping them to fit your environment or building shape. Restaurants and bars have used them very effectively to create a circular feature in their ceiling. There’s also no reason to assume that suspended ceilings are only available in white – they come in all the colours of the rainbow. Whether you want colours which fit in with your company’s brand, or just an eye- catching design, a suspended ceiling can do that for you. Suspended ceilings can be particularly helpful if you work in a multi storey building, as they can be acoustically engineered to stop noise pollution, limiting the level of noise which penetrates between the different levels of your building. This can be crucial if you work in an area where the noise level really matters. Because a suspended ceiling is not the same construction as a conventional one, you’ll need to consider how to incorporate lighting. Again, a suspended ceiling can really allow you to think outside of the box. For offices, a diffuser can be fitted which will reduce glare on computer monitors, making things that bit more comfortable for your staff. Modular systems can be installed anywhere you like on the grid, allowing you to focus the brightness exactly where you need it, and reducing your costs by avoiding illumination where it’s not wanted. Suspended ceilings have come a long way since the days of polystyrene tiles, and Quantock Interiors will be happy to come up with a suspended ceiling arrangement that will work for you.
